Mission Opportunities

United Methodists believe that each of us is called to participate in the outreaching ministry of Jesus Christ. John Wesley described this in simple, practical terms: “Do all the good you can, in all the places you can, to all the people you can.” River Hills has a long history of supporting missions locally, nationally, and globally. Working together in Christ we can make a difference!

Pitch-In

Monthly Mission Moment: MN FoodShare

The Missions Committee promotes mission involvement locally and globally for the whole congregation. Every month or so, they choose a particular area of mission to focus on.

Minnesota FoodShare March Campaign

The MN FoodShare March Campaign helps keep 300 food shelves statewide stocked throughout the year. 100% of donations received by MN Foodshare during the March Campaign go into the FoodFund. We collect money because they can make those dollars stretch farther than we can at the store. Give through March by check to River Hills UMC or by clicking the "Contribute" button at the top of this page; put “MN FoodShare” in the memo.

Open Door Pantry Grow a Row

Are you interested in gardening? Become a giving gardener for the Open Door and ‘grow a row’ in your backyard garden for the pantry. Don’t have a green thumb? You can still participate thru ‘share a share’ by donating part of your CSA share to the pantry. For more info click here.

Some of our ongoing missions include:

  • Covenant Relations with UM Global Ministries: we are in partnership with Rev. Courtney Randall in the Western Jurisdiction and soon moving to Ireland and Rev. Collins Etchi Ako, serving in the East Congo Episcopal Area in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
